Introduction to College Chemistry

Introduction to College ChemistryIn the course of an undergraduate chemistry class, you may be required to look at a chemical substance for the first time. Some of the more common examples are test samples, solidifying compounds, and crystals. A sample that is selected from the periodic table will typically be labeled 'thick'thin.'Students will typically take a 'baseball-bat' approach to understanding the different molecules of their substance. For example, students who are concentrating on the chemistry of this material may need to make a cut-away diagram that describes all the atoms present in the sample. Students will need to pay particular attention to the different levels of refractive index. This is a crucial component to successfully using the material in a given laboratory experiment.Most students in this program study American Society of Chemical Engineers or ASCE courses. Usually, students who are taking this course follow the same chemistry textbook as students in any othe r chemistry class. However, many biology-related labs will require students to know specific class details to complete the experiments. This is why it is important to be familiar with these lab details.Many students are not particularly familiar with the lab work involved in chemistry. However, this is a skill that must be learned over time. You may find that while you are in your chemistry class, you will not have a lot of opportunities to practice your knowledge. Typically, students in this program spend most of their time doing the required lab work while other activities are left to the professor's discretion. You should always try to spend as much time as possible in a lab setting practicing chemistry.What makes this course so unique is that the major focuses on the potential of compounds in the form of the materials we use every day. Common examples include batteries, paints, solvents, plastics, and pharmaceuticals. While these compounds will not seem very important, they are actually necessary to our everyday lives. The chemistry of these materials will influence the performance of materials at every stage of their life cycle. As an example, many common household products like paint or batteries have two components - the liquid and the solid. These compounds will lose their ability to perform properly if the solid fails to replace the liquid.Students in this program are taught the basics of crystallography, where a sample is provided to the student. This sample will be analyzed under the microscope to determine the composition of the sample. On the surface of the sample, microscopic crystals will form. The crystal structure of the material will help to explain how the material will react when mixed with another substance. This kind of chemistry will allow students to see how compounds such as nicotine, caffeine, gasoline, and soap work together to perform certain functions.Even if you are not interested in becoming a professor or taking an advanced leve l course, a University of Arizona college degree can be invaluable in a variety of careers. If you are interested in employment with a university, getting a Bachelor's degree in this field is a great way to go. Employers are always looking for a skilled individual who has great analytical abilities and the ability to explain complex concepts.

Online Work Formula Tutors

Online Work Formula Tutors Work in math involves math questions based on work done by certain number of people in a given amount of time period. In general when we observe, we know that work is dependent on the amount of time taken because to complete any task, a certain period of time is required. While solving questions related to work in math, we use this relation between work and time and calculate the total time taken to complete the given work accordingly. Example 1: Matt takes 20minutes time to mow a lawn and Jake takes 30 minutes to mow the same lawn. How much time will it take if both Matt and Jake mow the lawn together? Let time taken by Matt be, t1= 20mins Let time taken by Jake be, t2= 30mins Now time taken by both Matt and Jake to mow the lawn together be= t Then the work formula==1/t1+ 1/t2 = 1/t Using the above formula, we get: 1/20+ 1/30= 1/t == (30+ 20)/ 600= 1/t==50/600= 1/t Hence we get: time, t= 600/50= 12minutes. Example 2: Brett takes 3 hours to paint a house and Carl takes 5 hours to paint the same house. How much time will it take if both Brett and Carl paint the house together? Let time taken by Brett be, t1= 3hours Let time taken by Jake be, t2= 5hours Time taken by both Brett and Carl to paint the house together be= t Then the work formula==1/t1+ 1/t2 = 1/t Using the above formula, we get: 1/3+ 1/5= 1/t == (3+ 5)/15= 1/t==8/15= 1/t Hence we get: time, t= 15/8= 1.875hrs

Area of Equilateral Triangle

Area of Equilateral Triangle A triangle is a geometric shape which has 3 sides. An equilateral triangle is a triangle which has all the 3 sides equal to each other. Sum of the angles in a triangle add upto 180, and in an equilateral triangle since all the sides are equal to each other, their angles are also equal. Area of an equilateral triangle is the region covered inside the triangle bounded by the sides. Example 1: Calculate the area of the triangle which has side lengths as 5m, 5m, and 5m. Given the sides of the triangle: 5m, 5m, 5m All the three sides of the triangle are equal to each other, hence it is an equilateral triangle. Area of the equilateral triangle, A = 3/4 * s2 where s = side length The length of the side, s = 5m Area of the equilateral triangle, A =3/4 * (5)2 A = 3/4 * 25 = 10.8m2 Hence area of the equilateral triangle, A = 10.8m2 Example 2: Calculate the area of the equilateral triangle which has the length of the side equal to 8m. Since its an equilateral triangle, all the sides are equal to each other. Area of the equilateral triangle, A = 3/4 * s2 where s = side length Given the side length of the equilateral triangle, s = 8m Area of the equilateral triangle, A =3/4 * (8)2 A = 3/4 * 64 = 3 * 16m2 Hence area of the equilateral triangle, A = 27.7m2

How To Evaluate Expressions

How To Evaluate Expressions We know Evaluation means simplifying an expression to a single numerical value. We know expression is a combination of variables, numbers and operations like addition, subtraction, etc. If an expression 3x + 6 + 9 x is there, we can write this as 2x + 15. This kind of transformation is called simplification of algebraic expressions. To simplify an expression, we need to write the equal degree terms at one place. Then we can add or subtract or simplify those terms. We know Radical expression of both variables and numbers inside a way. Example: Simplify square root of (169x^8y^4z^6) Solution:The given expression is (169x^8y^4z^6) We can write this as individually = Square root of [(13^2) (x^4) ^2 (z^3) ^2 Here, we can cancel the square and square root = 13 x^4 z^3 So, the final solution of the given expression is = 13 x^4 z^3. Example: it says; for x = - 3, Evaluate the value of the expression 6x^3 5 x^2 + 7x + 100. Solution:To find the value of the expression for x = -3, We can let f (x) = 6x^3 5 x^2 + 7x + 100 Now we can plug the value 3 in the place of x, then we have f (- 3) = 6(-3)^3 5 (-3)^2 + 7(-3) +100 = 6 (- 27) 5 (9) 21 +100 = - 162 45 21 + 100 = - 128

Why You Must Stick to 650 Words in Your Personal Statement

Why You Must Stick to 650 Words in Your Personal Statement ACT SAT Prep and College Admissions Blog The Common Application sets a 250-650 word limit for the length of your personal statement. It may feel like it’s impossible to say everything you need to say about yourself in 650 words or less, but complying with this rule is about more than just word counting. It’s a life lesson. Disregarding the instructed word limit could come across as indicative of a lack of attention to detail and an inability to follow instructions. This will not be the last time in your life that someone will ask you to follow specific instructions. Doing it your way, even if you believe it’s “better that way,” might seem like the right thing to do, but it can also connote disrespect for the person asking. When you submit an application, you have not yet earned the trust to discount the rules set by people who control whether or not you are admitted to the school (or job). The unintended subtext becomes, “I think I know better than you.” It tells admissions committees that you don’t respect the effort they are going to put into reading your essay, as well as that of your fellow applicants, because you’re demanding extra time and attention. Not following the set guideline is handing the admissions counselors a reason to eliminate you from consideration. With so many applicants, dismissing someone who didn’t follow instructions is an easy way to pare down the pile of applications so they can devote more attention to the people who did. Being limited to 650 words also requires that you be more discerning with which details you include in your essay. It can help you focus and sharpen your writing. How can you express the essence of your story in fewer words? Again, this is a skill that will serve you in all aspects of your life. Being able to convey your points concisely will help readers or listeners stay focused on your message without getting bored or distracted by rambling prose. Write a long first draft. Include every possible detail that you might want to use to enhance your personal statement. Then cut anything that digresses rather than contributes to the plot or theme. Ask yourself if each word, thought, or anecdote is necessary. If so, how can you express it in the most economical way possible? I recommend Ray Bradbury short stories as a fantastic example of this kind of writing. He was able to convey an incredible amount of humanity and character despite the brevity of his stories and sentences. Adverbs are a good place to start with edits. Instead of using a verb and adverb combination, find a more specific verb so the adverb is unnecessary â€" “Shouted” instead of “said angrily.” Challenge yourself to make better word choices. Use your thesaurus and your dictionary. Make sure the words you use actually mean what you think they mean. Check for repeated words and use synonyms so your writing isn’t repetitive. Cut any words that are implied by context â€" “suddenly,” “it seemed,” etc. Cut clichés. You’re trying to stand out, and you won’t if you use tired phrases as a shortcut to conveying your point. Play with sentence structure. Use active voice rather than passive whenever possible to make your writing more dynamic and to eliminate extra words. Read your essay out loud to find points where the narrative drags or phrasing is awkward. Take some time to think about the impression of yourself you want to leave with this personal statement. It’s your best chance to inject some personality into your application, so choose your words wisely. hbspt.cta._relativeUrls=true;hbspt.cta.load(215486, '6baac2ae-05a3-4610-9d1f-265c8cbd809f', {});

Sure, nowadays everyone has access to a digital calendar on their phones and computers, but sometimes it’s nice to have a physical calendar hanging on your wall. For people who value staying organized and planning out their schedule to a T, a calendar or a planner is a simple yet useful gift. Your coworkers can use it not only for work, but also for any other responsibilities they may have. 2. Office or school supplies. If you work in an office environment, office supplies of some sort might prove useful for your coworkers. Think scotch tape, staplers, sticky notes, pens, pencils, folders, notepads, white-out, stationery … the list could go on and on. While this sort of gift may not seem particularly original or personal, it is certainly useful for the receivers. If you do want to make this gift more aesthetically appealing than, say, a pack of Bic pens with a bow on top, search for office supplies that have a bit of style. Of course, you want to remember to keep things professional, but it wouldn’t hurt to give your coworkers some colorful sticky notes or a notebook with an interesting design on the front cover. Who knows … maybe your gift could help to brighten up their desks a little bit. 3. Water bottle. Encourage your coworkers to stay hydrated while they’re on the job. What with all the deadlines they have to meet, customers to deal with, and other work they have to do, it’s important that they drink enough water throughout the day. Plus, if you order water bottles in bulk, the price may not be as steep as you’d think. You can certainly shop around online to search for good deals on water bottles, and some companies may offer free shipping if you spend a certain amount of money. For example, check out discountmugs.com for some great savings on water bottles (and other handy supplies). Image via pexels.com 4. Snacks. Everyone appreciates food. It’s important to stay clean at work, so why not encourage healthy habits?
